Everyone knows that the main place to look for information on family history information is the county record office. However, less well known are the resources of local libraries. Sometimes they hold census data and sometimes copies of local newspapers. Many also hold information specific to their area, which is not available elsewhere. For example local privately-published books, as well as copies of specialised commercial local history books. Some of the more modern books, recognising the number of people researching their family tree, have surname lists. Also to be found are books of photographic collections or historic postcards.
Bromsgrove BMSGH has arranged with Worcestershire Library Services a synopsis of their Local Studies Collections held at libraries in our area so that more detailed searches may be performed. For general information and the latest updates please go to the library services main website: http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/libraries.
