Aknowledgement,

Bill would like to thank and acknowledge the research for the COTTON family part of this tree.

It is the work of Jennie McGregor-Smith the author of :-

                  "John Cotton"

The Life of a Midlands Architect

                     1844-1934

Stimulated by the loss of John Cotton's Almshouses, Jennie was an instigator in the founding of the Bromsgrove Society in 1980. ________________________________________________

NOTE,

William BUGGINS ( 1789- 1856 ) was the son of George BUGGINS b about 1757 my 4 X Great-Grandfather,  his place of birth I have not found. He married Alice AVERY at Coughton, Warwickshire the 17th June 1779.

Their son William Buggins born about 1829 and a brother of Caroline (Buggins) Cotton is shown on the 1851 census working as a Bricklayer in Birmingham but cannot be found after that date.

I have found a William Buggins of similar age who arrived at Fremantle, Western Australia as a soldier on the "Esmeralda" from England 14 October 1854.

He became a building contractor, he married 16 year old Annie Watson 19 July 1855 in Wesley Chapel, Perth, Western Australia, .

Much of his work has now been demolished, but Wesley Church in Perth still remains as a monument to his skill as a bricklayer. He died 17 February 1875 of dysentery.

There is a memorial plaque in the church erected to his memory, it was unveiled on 8 July 1934.
