Bromsgrove Library Local Studies Collection
Bromsgrove Library is now closed for refurbishment.
The newly refurbished library will re-open on Monday
13th March 2006, when our new opening hours will be:-
Mon.: 9.30 - 8.00
Tues: 9.30 - 5.30
Wed: 9.30 - 5.30
Thur: 9.30 - 5.30
Fri: 9.30 - 8.00
Sat: 9.30 - 5.30
The library holds a
collection of material on Bromsgrove and the area around it, consisting books,
maps, local papers, and ephemera.
This
includes :- The
Bromsgrove Messenger on microfilm from 1860 onwards; and the Bromsgrove Standard
on microfilm from 1996 onwards.
Census for 1811, 1821, 1851; full transcripts for the area for 1891 and 1901 on
microfilm.
Palmers' Bromsgrove Almanack
1860 - 1912; 1937 – 1945
Copies of wills proved at
Worcester 1601 – 1650; 1660 –1699.
Books
are listed on the library catalogue, available in libraries and on the County
Council’s website.
An index to the local maps is
available in the library and on the County Council’s website.
People are advised to book a
session on our microfilm reader, if they wish to consult the newspapers or the
1891 and 1901 census.
The library has public computer
terminals, which can be used to access the internet.
